Kadugannawa, the M2 shutdown giving us time to take pics   Closeup of the SLR logo painted recently on the M2 Finally the crew manages to restart the loco and proceed towards Kandy We start on our hike. We meet the ICE hauled by a M6 not far from Kadugannawa stn. This is not trick photography the loco is climbing a steep grade Tunnel #5a notice the former track trace on the left hand side of the tunnel.

Tunnel #9a

We decided to walk through #9a, Lahiru looking at the last light from inside the tunnel Old track ledge outside #9a

Tunnel #9, Eastern end This is bored on a sheer cliff face, there is no option but to walk through this long tunnel. Harsha smiling nervously before we start our walk through the tunnel.

Balana outer home signal, yet another local train going up towards Kandy Even though it was a national holiday there was lots of train traffic Balana Home signal Abandoned derailed CGS wagon passing Balana

We meet UM below Balana 

Note space between train and embankment. If you are going on this hike be alert for trains and find a place with room when you meet up with a train.

Dekinda earth fill. Previous known has Dekanda (two mountains) this earthwork was constructed between two mountains
